Summer Serves: Two BRUADAR Cocktails with Kelvingrove Cafe
Summer doesn’t always mean warm sunshine (especially in Scotland), but it does mean longer evenings and more time outside with loved ones.
So we teamed up with Bran Ford, Kelvingrove Café’s newly appointed head bartender (though he’s been honing his craft there for nearly two years), who brought his personal touch to both serves. We asked him what inspired the creations—and here’s what he shared:
“The Alpine Honey is loosely based on a Bee’s Knees, with the addition of Chartreuse. Chartreuse is one of my all time favourite liqueurs, both yellow and green. I opted for yellow here as it is sweetened honey, so the flavours naturally go well with Bruadar. The bitter anise and fennel notes also bounce off the sloe berry flavours perfectly.”
“For the Spiced Toddy I opted for a hot cocktail as this is another category of drink which is often overlooked. Bruadar’s flavours lend themselves wonderfully to this drink and with the addition of the warm winter spices, this one goes down smooth on a chilly night. Toddies are so easy to make at home as well and so fun to experiment with different citrus and spices. I encourage anyone trying this to add their own little twists to it, to really personalise their drink!”
These cocktails were designed to be easy to recreate at home. Try them out and don’t forget to tag us in your creations @Bruadarliqueur
